Tools

  • Straight Edge Knife
  • Floral Snips
  • Anchor Tape
  • Scissors
  • Straight Pins
  • Container (to soak WetFōM®)

Instructions

  1. Fill the container with enough warm water (100-110 degrees) to fit your WetFōM brick with room on all sides. Add and thoroughly mix the flower food per the instructions on the packet. It is best to use flower food, it not only gives the flowers food, but it also helps them uptake water easier and kills bacteria to help them stay fresher longer.
  2. Use the straight-edge knife to cut the brick to fit inside the container with about 1/2in space between the container and the foam all the way around. The brick should be about 1.5in taller than the lip of the container. Use the knife to bevel the top of the brick for easier stem insertion.
  3. Wrap the Aspidistra leaves around the sides of the brick to conceal. Secure the leaves to the brick with pins. Place the leaf-wrapped brick into the container and secure the brick to the container with anchor tape across the top.
  4. Cut pieces of leather leaf and insert around the containers edge to conceal the tape and the foam.
  5. Insert the Italian ruscus to create the basic size and shape of the arrangement. The height should be about 1.5 times the height of the container or 1.5 times the width of a low dish. Insert the ruscus into the center of the container for the height. The width should be proportionate and no more than 1.5 times the height. Insert the ruscus horizontally into the foam on either side to create the width.
  6. Fill in around the fom with leather leaf and ruscus to reinforce the shape. All the stems should look like the spokes on a wheel and point towards the center. This will give you a nice symmetrical shape that is pleasing to the eye.
  7. Cut the stems of mini carnations and insert them following the shape of the ruscus. Cut all stems at a 45-degree angle; this will help them insert into the foam and give them a larger surface area to take up water. Keep the carnations inside the shape of the arrangement; they should not extend past the ruscus.
  8. Place roses on either side of the edge of the container facing outward. The foam should extend past the lip of the container so that you can insert stems horizontally and allow them to face outward. Fill in around the roses with the spray roses.
  9. Insert the lilies across the front of the arrangement placed just above the roses.
  10. Insert bunches of Hypericum berries around the entire arrangement for added texture. Fill in any open areas with remaining greens or blossoms.
  11. Be sure to water the arrangement every couple of days.
