FloraCraft to be featured on PBS Wisconsin Travel Program
In September, John MiGivern’s Main Streets, a program of PBS Wisconsin, visited Michigan for a segment on the Ludington and Frankenmuth areas. The half-hour program, hosted by six-time Emmy award-winning actor and host John McGivern, travels the Upper Midwest to celebrate the people who live there and the unique attractions, history and businesses of each community.
FloraCraft, along with several other area businesses, was chosen to highlight the uniqueness of the Ludington community. John and his crew visited our campus to learn about our 78-year heritage, culture and the products we make. FloraCraft President and CEO Steve Carlson gave him a tour of our campus, where he learned how our extruded polystyrene is cut into various shapes using our state-of-the-art fabrication systems.
While visiting the packaging portion of the plant, John tried his hand at putting product on the wrapping line and quickly learned it takes swift movement and focus to ensure the product lands correctly as the belt moves through. He also learned from a team member how to divide product into its bulk transport packaging bags, which are made with 25% post-consumer materials, before placing them into corrugate boxes made with 40% post-consumer material and shipping them off to customers.
“We were delighted to give John the grand tour of our Ludington-based company,” Steve said. “He was a great sport in jumping on the line and gaining firsthand knowledge of our products and processes.
“As the nation’s premiere craft and floral FōM provider, we are excited to share this behind-the-scenes look. It is an honor to be featured along with so many other wonderful local organizations who make our community special. Be sure to tune in this spring to watch the episode!”
An official air date has not been set, but tentatively will be in April. Follow along our social media for an update as we get closer.
