Flowers and Joy Delivered to the Community by FloraCraft

Stems of hydrangeas and ranunculi, roses and daisies, snapdragons and carnations, and so many more, brought brightness and joy to care facilities across the Ludington area last week.

On Friday, July 26, community members at Corewell Health Ludington Hospital, MediLodge of Ludington, Oakview Medical Care Facility, Ludington Woods Assisted Living and Memory Care, Snug Harbor Adult Day Care Center and Village Manor of Ludington got a little extra cheer with a delivery of floral bouquets from team members at FloraCraft.

Earlier in the week, FloraCraft held an event that used an extensive selection of flowers from local purveyor All Occasions Events & Florals. The team knew they wanted to find a special way to repurpose the fresh stems after the event was over. Team members, led by FloraCraft’s Senior Designer Dondi Richardson, CF, broke down large arrangements into individual-sized creations before delivering them throughout town.

“We were so fortunate to have the talented team from All Occasions create beautiful arrangements for us so we knew we couldn’t let them go to waste,” said Director of Marketing Jamie Sutton. “We fully embrace creativity at FloraCraft so this was a great opportunity for our team to unleash their imagination while providing an extra smile for members of our community.”

Fresh flowers are known to bring significant mental health benefits. Multiple studies have shown that flowers reduce anxiety, improve mood and speed healing. In fact, according to a study from Rutgers University, receiving flowers has an immediate effect on happiness. Additionally, a study from Harvard Medical School showed participants who lived with fresh cut flowers for less than a week felt an increase in feelings of compassion and kindness for others.

Team members spent Friday visiting local care facilities where they delivered the arrangements and chatted with community members.

“Having the opportunity to bring a little extra joy to the community was both an honor and a pleasure for our team,” Sutton said. “Flowers are one of the best ways to show people you are thinking about them and want them to have the best day possible.”
